Biography
Robert was Deputy General Counsel and then Chief General Counsel at the Australian Government Solicitor from 1992-2014. As such he provided a wide range of advice to the Commonwealth government on public law issues, and was involved in the development of a range of legislation, including the Native Title Act 1993, Water Act 2007, national energy market legislation and the constitutional changes for Australia to become a republic. He appeared as advocate in the High Court, other courts and international tribunals. He is now a Special Counsel with AGS, and is also a part-time presidential and senior member of the ACT Civil and Administrative Tribunal.
