The Hon. Robert Shenton French AC delivered the Eighth Austin Asche Oration in Law and Governance, on the topic of 'Free Speech and the Law on Campus - Do we need a Charter of Rights just for Universities?'

The Oration canvassed the content and history of concepts of academic freedom and freedom of expression, whether they are under threat and whether special measures are necessary to protect freedom of speech and diversity of views in our institutions of higher learning.

The event was held on Monday 17 September 2018 at the Nitmiluk Lounge Level 4, Parliament House, Darwin.
