The Solicitor-General, Dr Stephen Donaghue QC
Dr Donaghue is a graduate of The University of Melbourne, where he obtained degrees in Arts and Law and received the Supreme Court Prize as the top graduate in Law in 1995. He also holds a Doctorate in Philosophy from Oxford University. Dr Donaghue joined the Victorian Bar in 2001, prior to which he was an Associate to Justice Hayne of the High Court of Australia.
He took silk in 2011. Dr Donaghue appears regularly before the High Court most often in matters concerning constitutional and administrative law and provides advice to the Commonwealth on matters of national importance.
